This is a great idea, but some of this kind of preaching comes off as a middle class guilt complex that sounds condescending to those struggling in poverty.
I know you don't feel that way, but...
I just feel bad saying "going to take some of these and junk the others as a hardship".
Jak, as predicted I disagree with you. This planet belongs to all of us, whatever social class, and whilst some of the tips are for items that cost money, many of the tips not only encourage a "greener" xmas, but if followed save a little money too.
Its up to all of use.. what ever class and whatever income to try and do our bit to be greener!

I do a fair number of "green" things, but to not acknowledge that some of these things are difficult to do in poverty, in an apartment complex, on a pension...
... you just have no idea, do you?
I am a big fan of "Do It Yourself", of scrounging, buying used, but you fail to understand. The zealotry with the way some environmentalists preach are very aimed at the middle class, and are very condescending to the poorer classes.
I'm very, very disappointed that you do not realize that.
I understand your situation, and that Im very lucky to have a house and a garden etc.. and Im glad you manage to do some green things.
I dont feel that being green is aimed at certain classes, even if some websites are.
My aim in posting the link was not to provoke an argument or to annoy.. just to give a few hints and tips such as recycling xmas cards that anyone can do.
Whether you "feel" or not that it is, many environmentalists have NOT tempered their message (at least in the United States) for practicality and sheer doability towards those who are poor.
I'll be sending the response that Cimmy wrote, as I told you, soon.
Maybe things are different over here and hence the somewhat heated exchange of views..
I enjoyed what Cimmy (Jaks wife, for others reading this) had to say, and will email back :-)
