Mexican Wave time :-)

Ive just been told that as of 18th Feb my shift at work will change from 9.30-5.30 to 8am to 4pm. I’ve been on a waiting list for this for aaages .. so

Wooooot!! (for the uninitiated, that means hooray!)

Nay, Anna.

"Hooray" is too loose a translation.

"Woot" (possibly spelled "w00t" originally) is part of that annoying jargon called "leetspeak" gamers have taken from computer hackers, including "frag", "owned", etc.

"We Own Other Team" seems to be the best explanation I've heard of, although I sincerely doubt the etymology of leetspeak has been documented much from my research as of late.


And yes, I'm sure everyone just wanted something "simple" as far as an explanation, but you know me. Too geekily obtuse sometimes.

i like mexican waves but i dont see what a change in work times has to do with them. We had a mexican wave in my english class once! Mexico must be great if this stuff comes from it
